If you’re looking for a more environmentally conscious and cost-effective way to commute long distances, vanpooling may be the solution. A vanpool is a group of at least seven commuters who share the ride and travel costs by leasing and using a van. Vanpooling benefits may include discounted parking permits for the van, free bridge tolls and empty seat/gas subsidies.
You can start your own vanpool or join an existing vanpool. New vanpools may be eligible for TAM’s $3,600 cash incentive, which is available on a first-come-first-serve basis and is payable every four months over a period of two years.
Vanpools must meet eligibility requirements such as have an origin or destination in Marin County, and complete the required consecutive months of operation.
