Marin Transit Electric Buses
TAM has committed $75,000 to support purchase of electric buses and associated infrastructure in Marin County to further efforts to reduce emissions, fuel consumption and support and promote a clean climate future. The allocation is expected to help attract additional grant funding from the California Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP) program and other sources of alternative fuels funding to cover the cost difference between conventional and electric vehicles.
Marin Transit, in cooperation with Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District (GGBHTD), is developing a plan to purchase two electric buses to replace existing buses scheduled for retirement. The buses are 35-foot models from the manufacturer, BYD. The introduction of this technology will require new charging infrastructure at the GGBHTD yard in San Rafael.
The $75,000 matching funds from TAM supports these efforts by Marin Transit and GGBHTD.
