TAM Expenditure Plan Cover FINAL

Transportation Sales Tax Renewal Expenditure Plan

On Thursday, April 26, the TAM Board voted unanimously to adopt a new expenditure plan outlining how the Marin ½-cent transportation sales tax renewal funds can be spent. This important milestone follows more than a year of outreach and input, including initial plan development by a 24-person Advisory Committee, and meetings with stakeholders and our local jurisdictions; and there is plenty more public process ahead. The Renewal Plan will need further approvals from our cities and towns, the County of Marin, and ultimately, will need approval from 2/3 of Marin County voters.

The Renewal Plan sets-out a clear path to fund our core transportation needs of highest priority to the public, including Local Street and Road maintenance, Safe Routes to Schools programs, high quality Transit Service and Highway and Interchange Improvements.

Building on the work that was done last year by TAM’s Expenditure Plan Advisory Committee (EPAC), comprised of 24 members of the community, TAM is scheduling meetings with local municipalities to solicit input on the Draft EPAC recommended Expenditure Plan for the proposed 30-year extension to the current ½-cent Transportation Sales Tax. These meetings are part of an ongoing public outreach process that has included public and stakeholder input as well as a public opinion survey; the survey indicated very strong support for the continuation of the ½-cent Transportation Sales Tax.
