TAM and SCTA received a grant from the Metropolitan Transportation Commission through the Bike Share Capital Program. The goal of this grant program is to expand bicycle access and facilitate multimodal transportation in connection with transit and other regional bike share operators. The grant is intended to support capital purchases or leases, and robust public outreach to ensure successful and equitable system access and usage.
The planned system is expected to consist of 300 or more electric bikes that will use the latest generation of bike share technology.
There are expected to be 150 bikes in Marin County and 150 bikes in Sonoma County at or around SMART stations in the following cities: City of Santa Rosa, City of Rohnert Park, City of Cotati, City of Petaluma, City of Novato, City of San Rafael, City of Larkspur. The goal is to help complete the “last mile” between SMART stations and work and shopping locations.
The vision of the program is to provide a new, innovative and environmentally friendly solution for people to get to and from SMART stations and around town.
El sistema piloto inicial de bicicletas compartidas estará a lo largo del corredor del tren SMART en Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, Cotati, Petaluma, Novato, San Rafael y Larkspur. On November 15th, 2017 the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) awarded $826,000.00 in joint funding to TAM and the Sonoma County Transportation Authority (SCTA) to plan and build a bike share system that would operate at and around the SMART stations in both counties.
