Susan Cleveland-Knowles was elected to her first four-year term on the Sausalito City Council in November 2017 to serve the remainder of an unexpired term through November 2018. She was re-elected in November 2018 to serve a four-year term. Prior to being elected, Susan served over four years on the Planning Commission.
Susan serves as the Council’s liaison to the Sustainability Commission and alternate Council liaison on the Community Safety/Disaster Preparedness Committee. She serves as the City’s representative on the Marin County Council of Mayors and Councilmembers (MCCMC) Homeless Sub-Committee and on the MCCMC Ad Hoc Disaster Preparedness Committee. Susan also serves as the City’s alternate representative for the Transportation Authority of Marin.
During her tenure as Planning Commission Chair, Susan served on the City’s Short Term Rental Task Force. She also served as a community member and Planning Commission member on the City’s Housing Element Task Force.
Susan has worked for the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office City for 18 years as a Deputy City Attorney. She currently serves as General Counsel to the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA). As a parent, she has volunteered for Willow Creek Academy in numerous roles, including serving on the Willow Creek Foundation. Susan also served as a member and Chair of the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Baykeeper.
Susan lives in Sausalito with her husband and their two children.
